Our Isuzu NRR vs. NPR guide is what you need if you’re in the market for a high-quality Class 3 or Class 5 commercial payload workhorse. These two trucks offer similar diesel engine performance and comfort features but two vastly different frames ready to handle urban driving or big delivery days. We at Nimnicht Isuzu Trucks want you to expand your fleet efficiently, so let’s review how these two trucks differ.
To start, let’s look at how these haulers plan to move your deliveries. Both vehicles utilize the impressive 6.6-liter eight-cylinder gas engine or the 5.2-liter V-8 turbo diesel. Let’s see how that turbo diesel engine looks on both trucks:

While trucks don’t have EPA-rated MPG, all NPR variants – the NPR, the Class 4 NPR-XD, and Class 4 NPR-HD – are estimated to be more fuel-efficient than the NRR, with gas versions having lower year-to-year expenses. So, if your business only needs a light hauler, use the Class 3 or Class 5 options.
However, if your hauls are larger, the new Isuzu NRR for sale is a must-have. This Class 5 truck offers incredible GCWR and body application size, giving you the space you need for larger jobs.

The power of Class 5 trucks shows itself in that headlining GCWR rating. Carrying up to 12,997 pounds isn’t simple, but the NRR is built to have a sturdy frame. The lighter specs that the new Isuzu NPR for sale offers give it more maneuverability – great for city driving.
There’s basically no difference between Isuzu NPR and NRR features, with gas models having standard tricot fabric seating, cruise control, a tilt-telescoping wheel, and available remote heated mirrors. Diesel models receive available three-across seating and standard climate control options.
Your New Vehicle Warranty will adjust slightly depending on your model. For example, while both models receive five years of engine and drive axle coverage, the transmission on your NRR model has a five-year/unlimited-mile warranty.2 If you have more questions on optional parts and warranty specifications, please contact us!

The NPR is the best choice if you need a commercial truck capable of performing light delivery work. With a GCWR of 18,000 pounds, it performs the duties you need from a hauler while maintaining a low estimated MPG rating and yearly fuel cost. In addition, it has smaller wheels, front and rear brake discs, and a simpler transmission, making it easier to maintain.
As the smaller truck, the NPR has better fuel efficiency estimates than the NRR. The diesel fuel estimate for the Class 3 hauler is 16 MPG,1 while the Class 5 hauler’s is around 10.13 MPG.1 Even gas NPR numbers can save you money compared to NRR diesel models. If you don’t need the larger frame or higher trailering limit, NPR trucks keep your costs down.
As a Class 5 truck, the NRR is superior to the Class 3 NPR in terms of payload. With a GCWR of 25,500 pounds and a GVWR of 19,500 pounds, the NRR can tow up to 6,000 pounds1 in a trailer behind it. With the same engine, the NPR can also manage the same towing weight1 when properly equipped – but with a much smaller payload.
1Actual mileage may vary from manufacturer/distributor estimates. Isuzu commercial vehicles are exempt from EPA fuel economy rating requirements, and the fuel economy estimates provided are not based upon such requirements.
