Hauling safely is a critical part of any business, so knowing whether you need Isuzu NPR vs. NQR trucks can make your upcoming jobs much easier. While both trucks provide a comfortable experience for your drivers, the differences in payload capacity, GCWR, bed size limitations, and fuel consumption can save you on business expenses, upfitting costs, and much more. We at Nimnicht Isuzu Trucks have outfitted trucks for a myriad of businesses, from moving vans to cargo carriers. Let's review the differences between the Class 3 and 4 NPR and the Class 5 NQR so you can choose the best option.
The primary difference between a new Isuzu NPR for sale and an Isuzu NQR is their class categories. The NPR is a smaller medium-duty truck, also known as a Class 3 truck, while the NQR approaches semi-truck capability as a Class 5 medium-duty. This makes the NQR the larger and stronger option, though the NQR has plenty of variants to work with.

Outside of the Isuzu NPR vs. NQR variants, you can outfit the smaller option in many ways compared to its more static Class 5 sibling. The Isuzu NPR truck has four wheelbase sizes – 109, 132.5, 150, and 176 inches. The NQR doesn't have the smaller 109 wheelbase, though it does boast around two extra feet of body application. This makes the NPR more flexible within our Isuzu upfits guide but less capable if you need the extra space and power.
An Isuzu NQR truck is capable of flexibility or comfort as well. A new Isuzu NQR for sale creates a similarly comfortable interior to its little siblings, like Cruise Control, air conditioning, a tilt-telescoping wheel, and available remote heated mirrors.
No matter which option you select, you'll have access to standard and extended warranty options. Class 5 Isuzu trucks usually receive slightly different coverage from their New Truck Warranty, like a separate transmission plan, but you'll otherwise be covered for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.1

The payload capacities of the NPR and NQR change depending on configuration and variant. The NPR has its lowest payload capacity with the Crew Cab and 176-inch wheelbase, at 6,115 pounds, and its highest with the NPR-XD Standard Cab with a 109-inch wheelbase at 9,576 pounds. The NQR ranges from 11,407 pounds to 12,064 pounds, depending on the wheelbase and cab style.
The NPR has two gas and two diesel variants. The two gas variants, the standard and HD, offer Class 3 and Class 4 capabilities. The HD and XD diesel versions of the NPR provide Class 4 power. The NQR is only available in a single gas version but with Class 5 towing and payload potential. Drop by Nimnicht Isuzu Trucks today to view our selection of both models.
The EPA does not estimate the MPG for larger commercial trucks; however, as the smaller Class 3 truck with lower payload capacity, the Isuzu NPR is generally expected to be more fuel efficient than the Class 5 NQR. Please contact us for past estimations from the manufacturer and up-to-date fuel spending statistics from the configuration you're interested in.
